Dhaka, July 20, 2025 – In a stunning display of dominance, Bangladesh thrashed Pakistan by 7 wickets in the first T20I of the three-match series held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The match turned into a nightmare for the visiting Pakistan side as they were bundled out for just 110 runs—their lowest T20I total against Bangladesh to date.

Batting Collapse Shocks Pakistan
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Pakistan’s innings never got going. They faced sharp and disciplined bowling from the Bangladesh pacers, particularly Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, who dismantled the batting line-up with pace, accuracy, and clever variations.
Pakistan’s top order looked unsettled from the beginning. Early wickets fell as batters struggled to cope with the slow and gripping pitch. Taskin struck early to remove key top-order batters, while Mustafizur applied pressure in the middle overs with his trademark cutters and tight lines.
From 35/3 to 72/6, Pakistan’s innings collapsed steadily, and they were eventually bowled out for 110 runs in 19.5 overs. This total marked a new low for Pakistan against Bangladesh in T20Is, surpassing their previous lowest of 127/5 scored in 2021.

Taskin & Mustafizur Lead with the Ball
- Taskin Ahmed was exceptional, finishing with figures of 3 wickets for 24 runs in his 4 overs.
- Mustafizur Rahman, equally effective, claimed 2 wickets for 29 runs in his spell and broke Jasprit Bumrah’s record for the most T20I wickets at home by a pacer.
The Bangladeshi bowlers executed their plans with perfection, using the pitch conditions to their advantage. Pakistan’s attempt to rebuild the innings never materialized as wickets kept falling at regular intervals.
Bangladesh Chase With Confidence
Chasing a modest target of 111, Bangladesh lost an early wicket but looked confident and composed throughout the chase. The star of the innings was young opener Parvez Hossain Emon, who played a mature and unbeaten knock of 56 runs, anchoring the innings with calmness beyond his years.

Parvez found solid support from Towhid Hridoy, who contributed a valuable 36 runs off 37 balls. The pair stitched together a crucial 73-run partnership that ensured Bangladesh chased down the total with ease in just 15.3 overs.
A Historic Win & Strong Series Start
This win was more than just a victory—it was a statement. Bangladesh not only took a 1–0 lead in the series but also delivered a morale-crushing blow to the Pakistani side. Their performance was clinical in all departments—bowling, fielding, and batting.
With this win, Bangladesh will go into the second T20I on July 22 with momentum and growing confidence, while Pakistan faces serious questions regarding their strategy, batting depth, and adaptability to subcontinental conditions.
